in 3.0 dragoons received new skills. They are fang & claw, wheeling thrust, blood of the dragon, geirskogul and battle litany.
Blood of the dragon increases the potency of jump & spineshatter dive (stun jump) by 30%. yeah 30% you heard me. It has a duration of 15 seconds. It also makes you able to use enhanced wheeling thrust and sharper fang and claw, however this only happens when you complete a combo with chaos thrust or full thrust. The effect will go away if you use another weapon skill (global cool down skill) apart from fang and claw and wheeling thrust or if you let the effect timer reach 0 (you have 10 seconds until the effect goes away).
There is a 50/50 chance of either procing an enhanced wheeling thrust or sharper fang and claw, so you have to be quick on your feet. This gets annoying at first, but once you've done it enough and have gotten comfortable with it, then you should be fine.
It is important to be able to successfully use either an enhanced wheeling thrust or sharper fang and claw because it adds 15 seconds to blood of the dragon.
Fang and claw has a potency of 100 but when used at a targets flank, it has a potency of 290. Wheeling thrust has a potency of 100 but when used at a targets rear, it has a potency of 290.
Geirskogul is an instant cast line aoe with a potency of 200, it can only be executed when blood of the dragon is activated, but there is a catch, its additional effect shortens the duration of blood of the dragon by 10 seconds.
Battle litany is basically an aoe internal release, it raises the critical hit rate of yourself and any nearby party members by 15%. It has a duration of 20 seconds and a recast of 180 seconds.
Our new global cool down rotation is now: Heavy thrust - Impulse drive - Disembowel - Blood of the dragon - Chaos thrust - either fang & claw/wheeling thrust - phlebotomize - True thrust - Vorpal thrust - Full thrust - either fang & claw/wheeling thrust. rinse and repeat.
'But what about geirskogul?' good question. Geirsokogul should only be used once blood of dragon is at 21 seconds or over, if you use it anytime before that, blood of the dragon will pop off which is a big no no.
I use Geirskogul after my first fang and claw/wheeling thrust as it usually gives me around 25 seconds on blood of the dragon, this gives me a good 15 seconds to finish a combo and boost it up by another 15 seconds. From there on out i only use Geirskogul when blood of the dragon is at 21 seconds or over. If you think that using a geirskogul will cause your blood of the dragon to drop, its better to play it safe and not use a geirskogul until the next time around, sacrificing blood of the dragon for one geirskogul is not worth it.
Boss transitions are a killer for melee dps. There can be certain bosses which have an invulnerability phase. An example of this would be the Neverreap last boss. If you know that the boss will shift into an invulnerability phase soon and you have no way of rebuffing blood of the dragon, you might as well just pop a geirskogul just to squeeze some extra dps. When the boss comes out of that phase, just resume your rotation normally.
